The perfect red lip to each person means something totally different. For me in the fall it means a red thats more purple, in the winter I’m talking about a true blue red, in spring I’m into something a bit more pinker but as the temperature rises for the summer what I’m talking about is a natural flushed lip. Nothing over done, nothing to heavy, super subtle, just noticeable enough without overpowering your face because honestly its just too hot for that.
First, I love e.l.f. Cosmetics, ever since my younger cousin Stephanie turned me onto them one Passover Seder when I inquired about her awesome eyeliner. Anyway, besides having great of the moment formulas this shit is CHEAP, like less than five bucks for most products cheap. For less than my morning medium soy latte with an extra shot I can get the most perfect red summer lip.
Here are my products, first I swipe on e.l.f. essential Lip Stain in Nude Nectar then I put on e.l.f. Essential Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in Movie Star and then I finish off the look with e.l.f. Essential Lip Balm Tint in Berry. The layering here is KEY. The first product, the Lip Stain remains when the Lip Gloss Stick fades and the Lip Gloss Stick is there when the shine of the Balm Tint wears off. Layering makes this shit work. The effect is an effortless not overdone subtle red lip that I can only describe as pretty much perfect. Oh and the best part is that each lip product I just mentioned only costs $2. Seriously.
P.S. I talked a few weeks ago about Be Adored by Tata Harper, well I tragically lost that lip balm one late night in Chicago and I’ve found that the e.l.f. Essential Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in Movie Star is a dead ringer for the Tata Harper not so much in formula but definitely in color.
