Gloss Over it

Phoenix Botanicals Little Wing Balm $8.00

My friend Jen turned me onto this company with their Rose lip balm, but for me this is the standout balm from this company. Its pretty much one of the more amazing balms out there. When I started to my own lip balm company I really strove to beat this particular lip balm and is ability to moisturize. Continue reading

So, I wear a lot of open back shoes, clogs, sling backs etc. therefore my feet and more specifically my heels have to be in good shape. One thing though, that I am not good at doing is moisturizing my feet, like ever, its really simple and easy (an especially easy way to use up old creams that your not using anymore), no matter the simplicity I can’t bring myself to do it. ETSY Week

This week is dedicated to my most favorite unsung hero of the beauty world, Etsy.

Esty is a handcrafted haven for off beat things you didn’t know you needed, but for my purposes Etsy is an excellent source for hard to find, super awesome beauty products. Having spent hours combing Etsy for the best, I pulled my favorite things to show you this week.

Can’t leave home without…

Each Wednesday I’ll be letting you take a peek inside my bag, what products I simply can’t leave at home at least for this week…

  • Clean Well Sanitizing Spray: Totally safe non-toxic hand sanitizer without Triclosan. An all day essential I constantly reach for, living in NYC, riding the subways, this is always within reach.
  • Bobby Brown Pot Rouge for lips and Cheeks: A girl who is attempting to go green can still cling onto her favorites. This is the perfect just perfect bright but not too bright hybrid between a pink a red. Perfect for fall, and it comes with a mini mirror inside making the inevitable touch up so easy and one handed.
  • Miessence Breath Fresh Spray: A cross between Binaca, an Altoid and some chai tea, this all natural and safe breath spray is so important with all of the coffee I drink. It has a weird soapy effect that I can’t quite explain, but its still refreshing so I keep reaching for it.
  • Homeoplasmine:  Its French so it has to be the most amazing luxurious thing ever, amiright? Described as a homeopathic remedy, its a “pomade intended for skin irritations and contains extracts of plants and an antiseptic. It is intended to alleviate the irritation of the nasal mucosa associated with colds and rhinitis – scratches, grazes, bruises and cracks of the skin.” I simply use it as lip balm, cuticle moisturizer and hand cream on days my hands are super dry. Its pretty matte on the lips, fixes broken cuticles super quick and moisturizes your hands without a residue. A bag staple that replaces so much, leaving space for the inevitable 17 lip products I am going to carry anyway.

Calm me down

Irie Star Blissoma Smooth A+ Moisture Serum $21.50

About a two months ago I was having a major skin freak out. Nothing made my skin normal and clear and everything made my face burn and breakout.  A horrible combination, suddenly sensitive skin that is breaking out. This combo is the worst because, what you need to combat the acne is harsh so that made my face burn. I could do nothing. All I was looking for was something to calm my skin down and rein it in, you know, bring it back to a point where it was not burning. Continue reading

Perfect Harmony

Intelligent Nutrients Harmonic Shampoo and Conditioner

Intelligent Nutrients is the brainchild of the former founder of Aveda. From the website “In 1978, Horst founded Aveda Corporation, a global plant-based cosmetic company, and ushered a new consciousness into the world of beauty. Nearly two decades later, he sold Aveda to Estee Lauder. He shifted focus to Intelligent Nutrients, a health and beauty company that lives to the highest standards of 100% food-based, safe, non-toxic and organic ingredients.” I was smitten with the idea of food based, safe, non toxic beauty products.

I could not wait for my product to arrive. When it did, let me tell you the results were amazing. My hair as I have mentioned before was just a wreck so I was looking for something anything really to get me out of a deep hair rut. This product changed my life really. I was using another shampoo and conditioner combo called Wonder Waves from Fructis but it was discontinued  (and not so Green) and it was a great warm weather with humidity combo that kept my wavy, naturally limp hair basically awesome with just an air dry. Any product that allows me to do less and look awesome is something that I am always on the hunt for.

This product totally was a welcome and safe product replacement from my old discontinued standby. My hair is not frizzy, or limp even when I put conditioner up to my roots, something I have not been able to do. My hair is left shiny and bouncy and has brought back my hair. I do not know if there is a correlation but my hair is even thicker than it was too, a welcome added bonus.

If you are looking for a natural, safe everyday shampoo and conditioner that delivers some seirous results look no further, really I have found it with Intelligent Nutrients.

Ravish me

Vapour Organic Beauty Siren Lipstick in Ravish $22.00

In my make up arsenal of toxic lip products I have about almost a dozen of various reds. On me if there is a lip that makes me look my best, it’s a slightly more than barely there red. I have been on the epic quest for this all the time. Even when I find it, I always think I can find something better and buy another, it’s a problem. Continue reading

Fly away with me (or not thanks to this hair balm)

100% Pure Smooth and Moisture Balm, $6.00 & $15.00

More info HERE

My current hair cabinet is about 15 products deep. Mousses, sea salt sprays, dry shampoos, glossers, serums you name it, I have it. I really wanted to like this product, but I knew it would be especially hard because I have very fine hair and not a lot of it, so if a product is heavy, it will weigh my hair down and then I won’t use it. Who wants flat hair?  Continue reading
