Nieva Lip Butter Smooth Kiss, $3 bucks, cannot find it online anywhere
Sorry to review something I can’t link to or find on the internet, despite extensive research. But this balm is super awesome. I found it late night at CVS (obviously) on my walk home from a party- it was cold I had to warm up and CVS obviously was the midpoint between home and party. Either way this lip balm is super super moisturizing. It does have petroleum in it, but it also has shea butter, castor seed oil and sweet almond oil too, so I rationalize and think it all balances out. Its so thick and creamy. It adds a serious dose of aliveness to your lips. Again, it has that lip balm quality that makes your lips look pillow-y. I really enjoy that. Anyway, if you are so inclined maybe this will encourage you to go on a lip balm vision quest to find it- I personally love lip balm quests but that’s another story.
Also, I’m loving the the retro tin.
I used to avoid petroleum jelly so much – but then I read Don’t Go to the Cosmetics Counter without me by Paula Begoun and I’m really starting to rethink the issue. Still not sure but she gives a very strong argument! Not for all skin types obviously but for super dry, it’s the most hydrating element like in the world, and it has been used by doctors for centuries to protect and help wounds to heal for soldiers because it is so protecting. Paula also vows it is not suffocating and she has been studying anti-aging for years. Maybe decades. I might post about it soon. 🙂
That is super interesting. I am going to have to check out that book. I’ve heard the thing with petroleum is contamination. Super interesting though, if you post about it, let me know (I follow your blog, but still sometimes things get lost in the mix).
