Powder your nose…

Powder your face

Face powder is one of those products I’ve always carried with me. In high school I would always ask my BFF Zoe if my face was shiny. My face was always shiny, today less so than it was back then, but I still keep a powder compact on hand. The one kind of powder I never really used was setting powder because I thought it was pointless and a scheme. While you can use any kind of powder to set your make up, I just thought it was an extra step that I really didn’t need. I was wrong. Read More

A Good Foundation || Part Three

foundationandprimerreviews

After two weeks of trying varying combinations of Laura Mericer Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer Jouer Matte Moisture Tint and various primers I reached for one of my faves, Vapour Organic Atmosphere Luminous Foundation. I love this foundation from Vapour, its great for travel (TSA be dammed, more room other products) and you can layer it throughout the day without having your face feeling restricted or mask like, oh and its non-toxic.  Follow after the jump for how it held up.

Revamp Your Morning Routine

S.W. Basics of Brooklyn LemongrassBodyOil

I love using body oil in place of body lotion. I think its easier and more effective at moisturizing, especially early in the morning.  I’ve used so many over the years, usually really inexpensive ones from Whole Foods, like jojoba or sesame oils.  But sometimes I like to use one thats a bit more luxurious and special. The folks at S.W. Basics of Brooklyn must be reading my blog because a) I love lemongrass and b) I love body oils.  Read More

TRUE STORY, IT ALL STARTS WITH A GOOD FOUNDATION

foundations

Hey, hey, hey. I hope you have been enjoying the awesome month that is October. This week, I’ll be focusing on everything that is foundations + primers and everything in between.

Why?

Well, last month I started a wonderful new job. But with this new job comes two 54 minute commutes (yes I timed it) that includes a 15 minute walk in midtown Manhattan, complete with exhaust + humanity. Also included is 8.5 hours spent in recirculated air under unforgiving florescent lighting. Its taken its toll. By noon I look fine, by 2pm I look as expected, but by 5:30 I look like I haven’t slept in a week or eaten anything but processed food, neither of which is the case. I’ve tested five foundations, six primers, two concealers and three setting powders in the last month. Stay tuned to find out which ones worked and which ones failed under these extreme urban conditions!
